Onc’s Hajjat Namyalo spearheads a special interfaith thanksgiving prayers for first lady Maama Janet Museveni

The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) headquarters in Kyambogo became a beacon of faith, hope and national unity today as hundreds of Bazzukulu, religious leaders, politicians and distinguished guests gathered for a special interfaith thanksgiving prayer service in honour of First Lady Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni.

The event, organized under the leadership of ONC Manager and Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, was dedicated to thanking Almighty God for His healing hand, mercy and faithfulness upon Maama Janet, whose recovery has inspired joy and renewed hope among millions of Ugandans.

What unfolded at the gathering was more than a thanksgiving service. It was a powerful demonstration that faith remains stronger than fear, truth stronger than propaganda, and unity stronger than division.

Leaders from different religious denominations, Members of Parliament, Senior Presidential Advisors, Women Council leaders and ordinary Ugandans stood together in prayer, setting aside differences and embracing a shared spirit of gratitude. Among the clerics who led prayers was Pastor Aloysius Bujingo of House of Prayer Ministries International, who joined fellow religious leaders in praying for Maama Janet, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the entire nation.

Addressing the congregation, Hajjat Namyalo reflected on the challenging moments when concern over the First Lady’s health spread across the country. She recalled how false reports circulated on social media, creating anxiety and uncertainty among supporters.

Yet in the midst of fear and speculation, she said, many Ugandans chose prayer over panic and faith over doubt.

“We decided to pray. We decided to seek refuge in the Almighty Lord to create a way where there was no way,” Hajjat Namyalo told the gathering.

Her remarks captured the spirit that defined the thanksgiving service. While acknowledging the efforts of medical professionals, she emphasized that God’s intervention remained the ultimate source of strength and healing.

She revealed that the alarming rumours surrounding Maama Janet’s health deeply affected many Ugandans, forcing supporters to seek answers while remaining steadfast in prayer. Instead of weakening their resolve, however, the uncertainty inspired religious leaders and Bazzukulu to unite even more strongly in faith.

As prayers filled the ONC grounds, the gathering became a living testimony that difficult moments can bring people together and strengthen national solidarity. It also reflected the deep respect many Ugandans hold for Maama Janet, whose life has been defined by service, compassion, faith and dedication to the country’s development.

Hajjat Namyalo described the First Lady as a pillar of moral leadership whose contributions extend far beyond her official responsibilities. She noted that Maama Janet’s commitment to education, family values, youth empowerment and national transformation has touched countless lives across Uganda.

The ONC Manager further used the occasion to challenge Ugandans to cultivate a culture of gratitude and fairness by recognizing positive achievements alongside political differences.

“Let us give credit where it is due and not always rely on the negatives,” she said.

Equally important was Namyalo’s call for religious harmony and peaceful coexistence. She praised the presence of leaders from different faiths, describing their participation as evidence that prayer has the power to bridge divisions and strengthen social cohesion.

“As part of a unifying factor, it is just enough to stabilise the state. It is just enough for unity,” she said.

The thanksgiving service ultimately became a symbol of a nation coming together around faith, compassion and hope. For the hundreds of Bazzukulu in attendance, it was an opportunity to celebrate God’s goodness, honour Maama Janet’s enduring service to Uganda and reaffirm their commitment to praying for the country’s future.

As the event concluded, prayers were offered for God’s continued protection, wisdom and guidance upon Maama Janet, President Museveni, their family and the people of Uganda.
