Bupoto Sub-County erupted in joy and renewed hope today as Hon. Khalayi Peace continued her campaign trail, holding fruitful interactions with residents of the hard-to-reach area who have long felt abandoned by past leadership.

Welcoming her with excitement and prayers, the people of Bupoto openly shared their disappointment with former MP Sarah Netalisile, whom they accused of neglecting them because of the area’s difficult terrain. Residents said Hon. Khalayi Peace’s decision to physically visit Bupoto was in itself a powerful sign of leadership that listens, cares, and acts.

During the engagement, residents highlighted their pressing challenges, including impassable roads with broken bridges where communities are forced to use logs and makeshift structures to cross, lack of functional health centres, incomplete sub-county administrative structures, and absence of electricity in many villages. They applauded Hon. Khalayi Peace for moving on the ground and witnessing these realities firsthand.

They reaffirmed their full support for her candidature, pledging to vote massively for her. In their words, “If we voted for you before even seeing you, what will happen now that we have seen a young, vibrant lady ready to serve her people?” They emphasized their loyalty to the NRM, declaring themselves die-hard supporters determined to deliver victory.

In her response, Hon. Khalayi Peace thanked the residents for their overwhelming love and for the votes that made her the NRM flag bearer during the primaries. She humbly appealed to them to remain united and stand with her in the forthcoming elections scheduled for 15th January, assuring them of tireless service and commitment so that they never again experience the pain of neglect they endured over the last five years.

She pledged to work closely with local leaders, whom she described as knowledgeable about grassroots needs, to ensure effective service delivery and accelerate development across Namisindwa District. Addressing allegations from opponents who question her age, Hon. Khalayi Peace dismissed the claims, stating that leadership is about vision, energy, and commitment—not age. She challenged her critics to join hands with her in building a better Namisindwa instead of spreading propaganda.

The GISO of Bupoto also reassured residents of full security before, during, and after the elections, urging them to remain peaceful and confident as they support NRM candidates to victory.

As she concluded her visit, Hon. Khalayi Peace reminded residents to turn up in big numbers on 15th January, vote, protect their votes, and leave the rest to her leadership as they prepare to celebrate a historic victory for Namisindwa
