Hon. Khalayi Peace Entrusted with Women Affairs Whip Role, Vows to Champion Women’s Voice in Parliament

KAMPALA — The Office of the Government Chief Whip at Parliament of Uganda has appointed Hon. Khalayi Peace as the Government Whip responsible for Women Affairs, marking a new chapter in strengthening women’s representation and advocacy within the country’s legislative agenda.

Hon. Khalayi, who expressed deep appreciation for the confidence entrusted in her by Parliament leadership, said she accepts the responsibility with humility, honour, and commitment to delivering on the mandate.

“I take on this responsibility with a lot of honor and gratitude. Thank you to the leadership of Parliament for the trust. We shall deliver,”

The appointment places Hon. Khalayi at the centre of coordinating and supporting parliamentary efforts on issues affecting women, including gender-responsive legislation, empowerment initiatives, and policies aimed at improving the welfare and opportunities of women across Uganda.

With her extensive public service experience, Hon. Khalayi brings to the role a wealth of leadership and policy expertise, positioning her to effectively mobilize support for women-focused programs and ensure that women’s concerns remain prominent in national decision-making.

The new responsibility comes at a time when Uganda continues to strengthen efforts towards inclusive governance, greater participation of women in leadership, and the advancement of social and economic opportunities for all citizens.

Political observers say the appointment reflects confidence in Hon. Khalayi’s ability to bridge policy, advocacy, and parliamentary action in promoting issues that directly impact women and families.
