The Parish Development Model (PDM) continues to register remarkable success stories across Uganda, with one beneficiary in Luweero Sub-Region demonstrating how strategic investment and hard work can transform a modest government grant into a sustainable source of household income.
During an ongoing monitoring exercise by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), ONC Regional Coordinator for Luweero Sub-Region, Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale, visited Mr. Senyonga Fred of Kasokoso LC1 in Zirobwe Town Council to assess the impact of the Parish Development Model and document success stories from beneficiaries.
The visit revealed an inspiring journey of economic transformation. After receiving Shs1 million under the Parish Development Model, Mr. Senyonga invested the funds in banana farming, a venture that has steadily expanded and now earns him an average of Shs800,000 every month.
What started as a government-supported initiative has grown into a thriving enterprise that is improving household welfare, providing financial stability, and creating opportunities for future expansion.
Speaking during the monitoring visit, Mr. Senyonga described the Parish Development Model as a life-changing programme that has enabled him to move from uncertainty to self-reliance.
“I decided to invest the money wisely in banana farming, and today I am seeing the results. The plantation gives me a reliable monthly income, and my family’s welfare has greatly improved,” he said.
He encouraged fellow wananchi to embrace the programme and utilize the funds responsibly by investing in income-generating activities capable of creating lasting wealth.
“I appeal to my fellow wananchi to join the Parish Development Model and invest in projects that can generate income. This programme has the potential to change lives if the money is put to proper use,” he added.
He also expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for initiating the programme, noting that it has provided ordinary Ugandans with access to capital and opportunities that were previously beyond their reach.
Wasswa Abdulkarim Tamale commended Mr. Senyonga for his discipline, vision, and commitment to productive investment, describing his achievement as a shining example of what the Parish Development Model was designed to achieve.
He emphasized that the ONC monitoring exercise is aimed at promoting accountability, assessing progress on the ground, and highlighting successful beneficiaries whose stories can inspire others to embrace wealth creation initiatives.
According to Tamale, the success witnessed in Kasokoso is proof that when beneficiaries invest wisely and remain committed to their enterprises, the Parish Development Model can become a powerful vehicle for poverty eradication and economic empowerment.
