Hon. Emmanuel Omoding cleared as Money lender dismisses Ugx 13M debt allegations

Serere County Member of Parliament, Hon. Emmanuel Omoding Okabe, has been cleared of allegations circulating on social media claiming that he owes an outstanding debt of UGX 13 million to a Mbale-based money lender.

Speaking on behalf of the legislator, Pastor Ojatum Simon, the Personal Assistant to Hon. Omoding, described the reports as false, malicious, and deliberately intended to tarnish the image of a leader committed to serving his people.

In a decisive move to set the record straight, Mr. James Masaba, the money lender at the center of the allegations, appeared before members of the press and publicly dismissed the claims. He confirmed that any financial matter that previously existed between him and Hon. Emmanuel Omoding was fully settled some time ago through an amicable out-of-court agreement.

Mr. Masaba stated categorically that he has no pending claim against Hon. Omoding and expressed concern over individuals who continue to misuse his name to spread misinformation.

“I received my money in full, and the matter was resolved long ago. I have no dispute whatsoever with Hon. Emmanuel Omoding,” Mr. Masaba said.

He further condemned those behind the allegations, warning them to desist from using his name to damage the reputation of the Serere County MP. According to him, such actions appear aimed at frustrating the progress and development efforts associated with Hon. Omoding’s leadership.

The clarification has been welcomed by supporters and members of the public who have called for responsible use of social media and urged citizens to verify information before sharing it.

As facts continue to emerge, the incident serves as a reminder that truth, integrity, and accountability remain essential values in public life. With both parties confirming that the matter was settled and closed, the allegations of an outstanding debt stand exposed as baseless and misleading.
