The Territorial Police in Tororo have launched investigations into a tragic and preventable road crash that claimed the life of a 32-year-old woman, raising urgent concerns about safety, accountability, and justice within public institutions.

The deceased, Nambozo Sarah, a cleaner attached to the URA Service Center in Tororo Municipality, lost her life on April 29, 2026, at approximately 11:00 AM while performing her routine duties. According to preliminary police findings, she was knocked by a motor vehicle, a black Subaru Forester (Reg. No. UA 754DC), allegedly driven carelessly within the URA Service Center premises.

The driver, identified as Inapat Janervive, a 50-year-old URA official and resident of URA Quarters in Tororo Municipality, is currently at the center of the ongoing investigation.
Reports indicate that the deceased was cleaning the veranda at the URA Service Center when the vehicle struck her—an incident that has since drawn public concern over negligence in spaces meant to be safe for workers.

Police officers from Tororo Central Police Station promptly visited and documented the scene. The body of the deceased was conveyed to Tororo Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination, while the motor vehicle involved has been towed to the police yard pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).
Preliminary assessments attribute the cause of the crash to careless driving. However, authorities emphasize that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure accountability.
This heartbreaking loss has left family, colleagues, and the wider community in grief. As a hardworking Ugandan who died in the line of duty, Nambozo Sarah’s death underscores the urgent need for stricter adherence to safety protocols, especially within institutional premises.

The Bukedi South Regional Police Command has extended condolences to the bereaved family and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that justice is served without fear or favor.

We call upon all motorists to exercise maximum caution at all times and respect the safety of pedestrians and workers, particularly within controlled environments. No life should be lost due to negligence.
Further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
