MBALE CITY – The thanksgiving and business consultative meeting hosted by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Hon. Sanjay Tanna, at Mbale Secondary School Grounds turned into a powerful showcase of leadership, enterprise, and the shared vision of transforming Uganda through wealth creation and economic empowerment.
In attendance was Namisindwa District Woman MP Hon. Khalayi Peace, whose presence and contribution were highly appreciated by the minister. In his remarks, Hon. Tanna praised Hon. Khalayi as an intelligent, capable, and dedicated leader who is committed to serving the people of Namisindwa with all her heart.
He noted that leaders who remain close to the people and work tirelessly to address their challenges are essential in driving development and improving livelihoods. His remarks drew applause from the gathering, reflecting the growing confidence in Hon. Khalayi’s leadership and commitment to her constituents.
The minister also paid special tribute to Mr. Simiyu Sam, the father of Hon. Khalayi Peace, recognizing him as one of the region’s distinguished businessmen whose investments have created employment opportunities for many Ugandans. Hon. Tanna commended his contribution to the economy and urged him to continue supporting communities through job creation and entrepreneurship.
“People who invest and create jobs are helping government fight poverty and improve household incomes. They are key partners in Uganda’s development journey,” the minister emphasized.
In a strong commitment to the people, Hon. Tanna pledged to use his office to support initiatives that empower wananchi, strengthen businesses, and expand economic opportunities. He assured the public that the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives remains committed to ensuring that government programs benefit ordinary citizens and accelerate Uganda’s transition into a money economy.
The thanksgiving ceremony carried a message of hope, unity, and progress, highlighting the importance of visionary leadership, productive enterprise, and collaboration between government and the private sector. It also reaffirmed the wealth-creation agenda championed by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, which seeks to empower citizens through trade, industrialization, investment, and job creation.
