Business slows down as Hon. Khalayi Peace draws large crowds in Buwambwa, Namisindwa

Buwambwa, Namisindwa — Business activity slowed down in several parts of Buwambwa on Hon. Khalayi Peace’s arrival as residents gathered in large numbers to meet and interact with her during her ongoing community engagements ahead of the January 15 General Elections.

Hon. Khalayi Peace spent the day moving through different areas of Buwambwa, visiting women SACCOs, holding open discussions with local residents, and listening to a wide range of concerns related to service delivery, economic opportunities, and community development.

Her visit drew significant attention from traders, youth, and women groups, many of whom paused their daily activities to hear her views and share their expectations for the district.

In her remarks, Hon. Khalayi Peace emphasized the value of inclusive dialogue and continuous engagement with communities.

“My visit to Buwambwa is about listening and understanding the realities people face every day,” she said. “Hearing directly from residents helps guide the priorities that communities consider important for the future of Namisindwa.”

Women leaders under local SACCOs appreciated the chance to express their challenges, including limited access to financial support and the need for more capacity-building programs. One resident described the meeting as timely and constructive.

“It is encouraging when leaders take time to hear from ordinary citizens,” said a Buwambwa shopkeeper who attended the discussion. “Sharing our issues directly gives us hope that our concerns are being recognized.”

Several youth representatives also expressed appreciation for the open interaction, noting that opportunities for face-to-face dialogue help them highlight issues affecting young people, such as unemployment and access to skills training.

“We want platforms where we can speak freely about what affects us,” said a youth member from Buwambwa Centre. “This engagement allowed us to raise those points clearly.”

Throughout the day, Hon. Khalayi Peace encouraged residents to maintain cooperation, unity, and active participation in community matters, stating that meaningful development benefits from consistent collaboration between leaders and citizens.

Her visit concluded with ongoing conversations among community members, many of whom welcomed the chance to share their perspectives on how services and opportunities in Buwambwa can continue to improve.
