Hon. Khalayi Peace shines as she Meets Bumbo Town Council Residents on Day Two of Campaign Trail in Namisindwa District

Bumbo Town Council, Namisindwa District — Day two of the Namisindwa Woman MP campaign trail saw NRM flag bearer Hon. Khalayi Peace meet residents and leaders of Bumbo Town Council, continuing her outreach following the launch in Luwa Town Council on Monday.

Her visit comes amid growing frustration among residents over what they describe as the prolonged absence of incumbent Woman MP Sarah Kayegi since 2021. The race has attracted three other contenders—Stellah Nabalayo (FDC), Norah Timbe, and Dr. Sarah Khanakwa—each seeking to appeal to voters ahead of the 2026 general elections.

During the gathering, local coordinators presented key issues affecting Bumbo Town Council. Among the concerns raised were:

Poor road conditions

Inadequate school facilities

Lack of community playgrounds for youth

Limited access to electricity

The NRM Women’s League Chairperson for Bumbo Town Council also noted that elderly residents requested installation of solar panels, citing the daily cost of paying for phone-charging services at the local market.

Another coordinator echoed the need for wider electricity coverage, noting that several parts of Bumbo still remain off-grid.

The NRM District Registrar, Mr. Richard, encouraged residents to remain confident in their electoral choices, addressing earlier allegations surrounding the party primaries. He urged supporters to maintain their commitment ahead of the January 15th, 2026 polls.

Mr. Simiyu Sam, father to the candidate, expressed gratitude for the turnout and pledged to support efforts aimed at improving service delivery. He urged residents to disregard misinformation about his involvement in the campaign, describing his presence as a father’s natural duty to support his child.

Elsewhere, Mr. James Netalisile from Buwabwala thanked the community for their warm reception and explained his decision to support Hon. Peace, saying he assessed all candidates and believed she offered the strongest prospect for development.

Ms. Lwakwera Hope, a regional coordinator under PLU, also addressed the gathering, expressing confidence in the candidate and urging residents to support leaders who can advance development initiatives in Namisindwa.

In her remarks, Hon. Khalayi Peace thanked residents for their openness and pledged to address the issues raised once given the mandate. She noted that she began engaging with communities in 2022 after residents expressed concern over lack of representation.

She outlined her three-point priority plan focusing on health, education, and entrepreneurship, saying her goal is to revive service delivery through collective leadership and coordination.

She also unveiled her official campaign photo to be used on the ballot and advised voters on proper marking of ballots to avoid invalid votes. She promised to continue with door-to-door and parish-level engagements as the campaign progresses
