Mbale City, Uganda —
As her mobilization trail continues across Mbale City, the Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) and Chief Muzzukulu, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, this evening met with members of the NEEKO Group, a network of sex workers, to listen to their concerns and monitor progress on Presidential commitments made during last year’s Bugisu Youth Symposium.

During the interactive session, the group expressed deep frustration over the UGX 100 million support that was promised by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to their SACCO. The support was intended to empower vulnerable groups and help more Ugandan households join the money economy, in line with the NRM Government’s agenda of transforming the remaining 33% of households still in subsistence production.

However, nearly a year later, members of the group revealed that no funds have been received, despite assurances that the support would be delivered within three months. They appealed to Hajjat Namyalo to urgently follow up on the matter and to help address other pressing challenges affecting their livelihoods, safety, and access to financial empowerment programs.

In her response, Hajjat Namyalo thanked the group for their honesty and resilience, assuring them that their issues will be escalated to the President for immediate attention.
“I have listened to your concerns, and I want to assure you that this matter will be followed up urgently through the right channels. I will personally ensure that your voices reach the President,” she said.

Hajjat Namyalo further emphasized that President Museveni’s vision is to uplift all Ugandans, especially the vulnerable, by giving them tools and capital to improve their incomes and live dignified lives.
“The President believes in empowering every Ugandan, regardless of background or status. His commitment is to see that everyone participates meaningfully in the money economy,” she noted.
She encouraged the group to remain united, organized under their SACCO, and to continue engaging with ONC structures as efforts are made to resolve their concerns.
“Let us stay focused, organized, and patient. Together, we shall ensure that no Ugandan is left behind in the development journey,” Hajjat Namyalo concluded.
