SIRONKO, July 27, 2026 – The NRM Chairperson for Sironko Town Council, Hon. Abdallah Dife, today officially flagged off all NRM LC1 flag bearers ahead of tomorrow’s Local Council I elections, urging them to remain focused, engage voters directly, and champion peace as they seek the people’s mandate.
Addressing the enthusiastic candidates, Hon. Dife reminded them that the final hours before polling are crucial and encouraged them to use the remaining time wisely by reaching out to voters individually and sharing their vision for community development.
He thanked the candidates for the warm reception accorded to him during his village-to-village mobilization campaigns, describing the support as a strong sign of unity and commitment to the growth of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
He further called upon all candidates to remain vigilant and mobilize their supporters to report to polling stations early on July 28 for verification and roll call before lining up behind their preferred candidates.
Emphasizing the transparency of the voting process, he urged all participants to maintain peace and avoid any form of chaos, noting that the LC1 elections are conducted openly and fairly, with victory determined by the candidate who attracts the longest line of supporters.
“Leadership is about service, not division,” Dife said as he appealed for unity among contestants. He encouraged winners to embrace those who may not succeed and reminded candidates that community service can continue regardless of holding office.
In a move aimed at ensuring peaceful elections, Hon. Dife revealed that through the Office of the GISO, security arrangements had been requested for areas considered vulnerable to unrest, with police expected to maintain order and guarantee a smooth electoral process.
He also advised candidates to carefully think about the six-member committees they will appoint immediately after victory, urging them to select committed and capable individuals who share the vision of serving the people faithfully.
Reaffirming his commitment to strengthening the NRM at the grassroots, Dife assured supporters that he would continue working tirelessly for the party’s success and expansion across the district.
The flag bearers expressed excitement and gratitude for the unprecedented support and solidarity shown by their chairman, saying his personal involvement had motivated them to work harder for victory.
“We shall not disappoint him,” several candidates pledged. “The best way to repay his trust and support is to emerge victorious and serve our people diligently.”
Hon. Dife also pledged to reconvene the candidates after the elections for a joint victory celebration and announced plans to support the formation of a SACCO that will promote unity, economic empowerment, and collective progress among local leaders.
As he concluded the meeting, the NRM leader wished all candidates success and urged them to remain alert throughout the electoral process until the final results are declared.
