Uganda’s political landscape has taken a dramatic turn after Anita Annet Among officially withdrew from the race for Speaker of the 12th Parliament following growing investigations, security raids, and rising pressure within the ruling National Resistance Movement.
In a statement released Sunday night, Among pledged loyalty to candidates endorsed by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the party, while promising full cooperation with ongoing investigations linked to her tenure.
Her exit comes shortly after security agencies raided properties associated with her, as Muhoozi Kainerugaba publicly backed Jacob Oboth-Oboth for the powerful Speaker position.
