ONC TAKES CHARGE OF PDM MONITORING IN BUDUDA DISTRICT AS BENEFICIARY SHOWCASES TRANSFORMATIONAL IMPACT

The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) has continued its Parish Development Model (PDM) monitoring and supervision activities in Bududa District, recording encouraging stories of household transformation and enterprise growth.

During a field visit in Bukibokolo Sub-county, Nalali Village, Ms. Kakayi Annet emerged as one of the successful beneficiaries demonstrating effective utilization of the UGX 1,000,000 PDM seed capital.

Ms. Kakayi invested the funds in a well-planned mixed livestock enterprise. She purchased two pigs at UGX 160,000 each and two goats at UGX 200,000 each. She further allocated UGX 100,000 towards construction of pig sties and UGX 180,000 for animal feed, ensuring proper care and productivity of her animals.

The investment is already yielding visible results. One of the goats has given birth, while another is expecting, and one of the pigs is also about to farrow. This progress is expected to significantly increase her household income once the young animals are sold.

In addition to livestock farming, Ms. Kakayi’s coffee plantation has recorded improved yields, which she attributes to the use of organic manure from her animals. This has enhanced soil fertility and strengthened her agricultural productivity compared to previous seasons.

Beyond economic gains, the intervention has also contributed to social empowerment. Ms. Kakayi noted that owning productive assets has improved her standing in the community, giving her greater confidence and participation in local decision-making processes.

ONC officials commended her for disciplined investment and proper utilization of the PDM funds, noting that her success reflects the core objective of the programme—transitioning households from subsistence livelihoods into sustainable income-generating enterprises.
