The Regional Coordinator for Busoga, Ms. Kyanika Rehema, accompanied by Muzzukulu Coordinator Denis Muteguya and Iganga District Coordinator Abdurahim Buyinza, conducted a monitoring visit to Parish Development Model (PDM) beneficiary Mr. Basalirwa Fred of Busei A Village, Nakalama Sub-county, Iganga District.
Mr. Basalirwa received PDM funds in 2023 and invested in dairy farming by purchasing a calf. Through proper management, the calf matured and later gave birth to another calf, which is now two months pregnant. This growth has significantly strengthened his household income and improved the family’s welfare.
According to Mr. Basalirwa, the dairy enterprise has enabled him to earn income from milk sales, helping him meet basic family needs such as food, education, and other household expenses. The family also consumes milk regularly, which has improved their nutrition and overall health.
Encouraged by the progress achieved, Mr. Basalirwa expressed readiness to begin loan recovery payments next month. He attributed his success to the Parish Development Model initiative and the support extended through government programs.
Despite the positive achievements, he highlighted challenges affecting his enterprise, including the high cost of artificial insemination services and the persistent threat of livestock theft, which creates insecurity for farmers in the area.
Mr. Basalirwa expressed his gratitude to H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the Parish Development Model and thanked the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) team for visiting and monitoring beneficiaries on the ground.
