Onc manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye today headed to Kati Kamu Gala Village, Wobulenzi Town Council, Luwero District, where she met three more ONC empowerment beneficiaries whose lives have changed since 2023.

First was Wasswa Liz, who received 200 chicks, feeds, and a follow-up visit from a veterinary doctor under the ONC program. She has grown the project to 1,300 broilers and is scaling further. Liz says the support has upgraded her home income — all her children now go to school and her family can afford daily meals without struggle. She earns about UGX 1.5 million monthly profit per cycle and says the market is available, but with more support she can expand to 3,000 chicks. “I thank President Museveni for sending Hajjat Namyalo to reach people far in the villages,” she testified.
In the same village, Mr. Tandeba John also started with 200 broilers from ONC but chose to upgrade to kroilers, a dual-purpose breed. He now sells both eggs and meat, which has diversified his income and made the business more resilient to market swings. He earns UGX 400,000 to 450,000 monthly depending on feed prices and urges youth to join these projects to fight poverty. His main need now is expanding housing to keep up with growth.

Still in Kati Kamu, Mr. Sulaiman Kanyike received 2 goats from ONC — one he-goat and one she-goat of the Boawad breed. Today he has 20 goats. He integrates them with a coffee and banana plantation, using crop waste to feed the goats and goat manure to fertilize the coffee and bananas, cutting costs on both sides. “I thank the President for sending Hajjat Namyalo to empower local communities. People should embrace government programs and trust the government because these things are ours,” he said.
Hajjat Namyalo commended all three for discipline and smart reinvestment, saying their stories prove ONC’s 2023 empowerment drive is moving households from subsistence to the money economy right at village level.
