ONC Spot Check Uncovers PDM Success in Bududa as Beneficiary Turns UGX 1 Million into a Thriving Livelihood Enterprise

Bududa District, Uganda – The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the success of the Parish Development Model (PDM) through active monitoring and evaluation of beneficiaries across the country. In Bududa District, ONC Coordinator Mukhobeh Moses Khaukha conducted an extensive spot-check exercise across various parishes to assess project performance, verify utilization of funds, evaluate household income improvements, and identify implementation challenges.

The monitoring exercise revealed encouraging results, with many beneficiaries successfully investing PDM funds in productive enterprises such as piggery, poultry farming, crop production, and small-scale businesses. These investments are steadily transforming household livelihoods, creating sustainable sources of income, and advancing the government’s vision of socio-economic transformation.

One of the most inspiring success stories is that of Ms. Namutosi Junic from Builimbi Village in Bukibokolo Sub-county. After receiving UGX 1 million through the Parish Development Model, she strategically invested in piggery by purchasing two pigs and using the remaining funds to construct a pig shelter and purchase feeds.

Her enterprise quickly yielded remarkable results. One pig was successfully fattened and sold for UGX 950,000, nearly recovering her entire initial investment. The second pig produced 12 healthy piglets, which are expected to generate approximately UGX 960,000 upon sale. With this growing income, Ms. Namutosi is already planning her next investment—a dairy heifer—to further expand her household’s economic opportunities.

Speaking during the monitoring visit, Ms. Namutosi expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Government of Uganda for introducing the Parish Development Model, which she described as a life-changing initiative that has given ordinary citizens a pathway out of poverty.

“This programme has transformed my life. What started as a small investment has grown into a profitable enterprise. I now have hope for a better future for my family,” she said.

Mr. Mukhobeh Moses Khaukha commended beneficiaries who have embraced the programme and utilized funds responsibly. He emphasized that such success stories demonstrate the effectiveness of PDM as a tool for wealth creation and economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
