Luwa Town Council, Namisindwa — Residents of Luwa Town Council on today warmly welcomed Hon. Khalayi Peace as she officially launched her campaign ahead of the 2026 General Elections. The event drew local leaders, party officials, opinion leaders, and community members who gathered to hear her plans for the constituency.

NRM Elections Officer Commends Her Consistency
Speaking during the launch, Mr. Richard, the NRM Elections Officer, applauded Hon. Peace for her commitment throughout the party primaries. He told residents that her dedication demonstrated readiness for leadership and encouraged them to maintain consistency in supporting NRM candidates at all levels. He emphasized the importance of political cohesion for effective service delivery.

Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Simiyu Sam, parents of the candidate, who thanked the people of Luwa Town Council for the support and goodwill, they continue to show their daughter. Mrs. Simiyu expressed confidence that her daughter would serve diligently if entrusted with the mandate.

Addressing the press, area leader Wilson Webukhulu reaffirmed his confidence in Peace’s ability to represent the constituency effectively. He noted that she is familiar with the community’s challenges and pledged his commitment to continue advocating for the development of Luwa Town Council. He expressed optimism that residents would vote overwhelmingly for her.

The NRM Chairperson of Luwa Town Council, Mr. Simiyu, welcomed Hon. Peace to the area and assured her of strong local support. He highlighted several challenges faced by the community, including poor road conditions, lack of Health Centre II and III facilities, and inadequate public services. He said the community hoped to have these concerns addressed in the next parliamentary term.

In her response, Hon. Khalayi Peace thanked the people of Luwa for their massive welcome and for the strong support shown during the NRM primaries. She assured them that she was committed to working closely with the community to address critical service gaps.

She outlined several priorities, including:
Road rehabilitation, especially routes used for transporting agricultural produce such as onions.

Lobbying for the establishment of Health Centre II and III facilities to improve maternal health and general medical services.

Advocating for a secondary school in the sub-county, noting that long distances to existing schools contribute to high dropout rates.
Improving access to electricity, starting with provision of emergency solar solutions while lobbying for full grid connection.

Supporting private investment in health facilities as she simultaneously champions government intervention for public hospitals.
She also emphasized that she intends to serve as a public servant, not a superior, and pledged not to disappoint them that has continued to trust her leadership.

The District Woman Councillor for Luwa Town Council and Mukoto Sub-county, Ms. Namatome Khana Simali, said the decision by Hon. Peace to launch her campaigns in Luwa demonstrated her closeness to the people. She noted that the campaign launch created an opportunity to show the candidate key areas that need urgent intervention.
